Partnering with INDEPENDENT DAYS | International Film Festival Karlsruhe, the Filmboard Karlsruhe invites aspiring filmmakers with limited financial means to apply for the “Media Arts Film Scholarship 2024,” offering a production grant of €3,000. Embracing the spirit of Karlsruhe as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts, innovative short film ideas, including immersive projects, are welcome for the first time this year.
Imaginative short film concepts that push creative boundaries, regardless of genre—fictional, experimental, or documentary—are sought. Ideas, yet to be realized, should captivate the jury with their narrative ingenuity within a runtime not exceeding 10 minutes.
This opportunity is open to all creative professionals in the fields of media art and film, including student projects, without any age restrictions. A special invitation is extended to media artists from other UNESCO Cities of Media Arts, alongside filmmakers and media artists worldwide.
The scholarship entails a production grant to bring visions to life, with the support of the Filmboard Karlsruhe. From script development to post-production, the aim is to facilitate the creation of an experimental short film addressing contemporary societal themes.
