Novi Sad is a vibrant city located in northern Serbia, situated on the banks of the Danube river, lying in the fertile Pannonian Plain, surrounded by the Fruska Gora mountain. As the second largest city in Serbia, Novi Sad is the administrative capital of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The city has a diverse landscape, including parks, and the iconic Petrovaradin Fortress.
With a population of around 360,000 residents, and 23 ethnic communities, our City has the reputation of a multinational, multicultural and multi-confessional metropolis in which 4 languages are in official use.
It’s a city of young people and a University with 50,000 students. Confirmation of a good youth policy came when the city won the title of European Youth Capital for 2019.
With authentic multicultural and neo-avangard heritage, vibrant NGO and alternative art scene, more than 30 public cultural institutions, and large-scale regional and international festivals, Novi Sad was designated for the prestigious title of European Capital of Culture in 2022. Preceding the prestigious European Capital of Culture title Novi Sad was Youth Capital of Europe in 2019.
In addition, the City has also received an award for the best European Trend Brand award for 2021 for legacy programs of Novi Sad European Capital of Culture, becoming the first city in this part of Europe to bear the title.
In October 2023 Novi Sad became joined UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the filed of Media Arts.
Novi Sad is a regional hub for technological innovation, scientific researches and hosts many IT and creative industry companies, startups, and research and development centers.
