The UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Karlsruhe is extending an invitation to artists and media professionals worldwide! For the first time, the 2024 project funding program is welcoming international participants, offering an exciting opportunity to collaborate and push the boundaries of media art. This initiative seeks to engage creatives who address contemporary social and cultural issues through the use of media art. International exchange, collaboration, and interdisciplinary exploration are at the heart of this open call.
Karlsruhe is actively investing in the promotion of media art, allocating 100,000€ in the 2024 budget for this purpose. These funds will support projects designed for outdoor spaces, creating impactful experiences for the public. Funding of up to 40,000€ per project is available, and the works will be showcased in the summer 2025 “Media art is here” exhibition.

The application deadline is September 20, 2024. An expert jury will select eligible projects, with applicants notified of the outcome by the end of October 2024.
